Domaine Samuel Billaud Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons
Regular price $101.99Part of an esteemed Chablis family, Samuel Billaud struck out on his own in 2009 to found his eponymous domaine. He had previously been the winemaker at Domaine Billaud-Simon, which had been a shining light in the old school Chablis clubhouse of quality. Since the creation of his own label, Samuel has met with great success and moved into a new winery space in 2015 as well as purchasing four hectares of vines that had previously belonged to Domaine Billaud-Simon.
"The same pale colour. The bouquet is absolutely authentic Vaillons, all about the dry stones. Tension, bitterness, full too but without deviating from the style of the terroir. A very concentrated dry and long finish. Just what I want with my oysters. Endless finish! Drink from 2027-2034." - Jasper Morris, 92-95 points
"Produced from vines averaging 60 years old, this shows the typical Vaillons perfume with notes of white flowers. Very good drive and crispness on the palate. Complex and long aftertaste. A top quality example of Vaillons, with the style of a real thoroughbred. Drink 2025-2030." - Decanter, 94 points
