In 1989, two Burgundians, Jacques Seysses of Domaine Dujac and Aubert de Villaine, teamed up with their friend Michel Macaux and went looking for vineyards in Provence. They found it in the Var, just east of Aix-en-Provence; the gently sloping, south-facing hillsides, combined with a cooler microclimate and clay-limestone soils, were exactly what they were looking for!
The rest is history. Their rosé is consistently fantastic. A blend of Cinsault, Grenache, and Syrah, it’s pale, fresh, and quietly complex, with notes of green strawberry, blood orange, white flowers, and just a hint of spice. It’s got that classic Provençal balance and ease, and it drinks exactly how you want rosé to drink when the weather warms up.
