Christian Amido planted these Merlot vines back in the 1970's! Yep, and we're glad he didn't rip these vines up when Merlot fell out of favor. Today, Domaine Amido makes about a thousand cases of this Merlot each year; the fact that sells for less than $15 is crazy!
Right out of the gate, this one is plush and supple with a ripe core of plum and dark raspberry fruit with some peppery spice in the background. Soft and round in texture, it goes down a bit too easy. I wouldn’t say it’s super complex, but it certainly makes for a great house red.
