Clos de la Vierge 'Le Carré de Peès' Jurançon Sec

Dry Jurancon is a fascinating white wine, as it balances richness, freshness, fruit, and mineral with effortless ease. A blend of the Manseng varieties (Gros and Petit), it presents and intriguing profile that is equal parts fruit and "savory stuff," and the fierce acidity present here makes it feel almost like a tannic white wine. 

We love this one from one of the region's all-star estates. It leads with ripe notes of white fruits like pear and green apple, but with a bit of time in glass, it turns more complex and engaging. There's a honeyed note to the fruit, but the wine is decidedly dry, and with air, more peppery, spicy, floral, and herbal notes emerge.
