Clos Cancaillau Jurancon ‘Crème de Tête’

Here's a wonderful alternative to Sauternes from the underappreciated vineyards of Jurancon, in Southwest France. A blend of Petit and Gros Manseng, late harvested and dried for a bit to concentrate flavors, the resulting wine is rich, sweet, and heavenly. What's great about it is despite the sweetness and the rich, honeyed texture, there's plenty of acidity to keep it from becoming cloying. It tastes of honeyed citrus and orchard fruits, saffron, spice, and wildflowers.
