Christian Tschida 'Himmel auf Erden' Weiss Grand Cuvee

Christian Tschida is one of the greatest winemakers coming out of Austria, though he wouldn't refer to himself as that, as he is a self-described, 'transformer'. Based in Illmitz, within the larger Burgenland region, he works with multiple varietals including Weissburgunder, Gruner Veltliner, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Blaufrankisch, Syrah, and Cabernet Franc. He works with extreme attention to detail both in the vineyard and in the cellar, and also works with minimal intervention by not fining, filtering, or adding sulfur to any of his wines.

We could discuss the layers and layers of ripe peach, pineapple, cool steel, copper, basil, leafy green, white pepper, and honeycomb that this extremely energetic and textured wine presents, but that still would not capture the whole picture this wine displays. Pure, meticulous, exceptional.
