Bodega Sierra Norte Pasion de Monastrell

Sierra Norte manages over 300 hectares of vineyards in Southeastern Spain. Despite being a larger producer, their work in the vineyards and cellar are like a much smaller producer. Certified organic, hand harvesting and sorting, aging in "real" oak barrels (no oak chips), and working with old, un-grafted vines. All of this adds up to great wines at great prices.

Their Pasion de Monastrell is made from 50-60-year-old Monastrell (aka Mourvedre), and it sees 6 months of aging in French oak. The finished wine is ripe, full, smooth, and incredibly enjoyable. Bursting with notes of ripe red and dark berries, pepper, exotic spices, and herb, this pleasure-bent red is perfect for spring and summer cookouts.
