Bodega Lanzaga 'Corriente' Rioja

One of the hottest young estates in Rioja, Bodega Lanzaga is led by Telmo Rodriguez, best known for his work at his family’s Remelluri estate. But many believe his project in the cool Lanciego zone of Rioja Alavesa is where things are really starting to take off. “Corriente” is named after the traditional Spanish term for honest, everyday wines, and this one lives up to that spirit.

Sourced from old, organically farmed bush vines around Lanciego, it is mostly Tempranillo with small amounts of Graciano, Garnacha, and even a touch of white grapes. Fermented with native yeasts in concrete and aged for a year in a mix of concrete, barrel, and foudre, it is smooth, aromatic, and full of ripe berry fruit, subtle spice, and earthy tannins. Easy to enjoy on its own, but even better with richer dishes.
