Auntsfield Sauvignon Blanc 'Single Vineyard'Regular price $24.99
One of the finest New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs on the planet, Auntsfield's vineyard sits on the same site that New Zealand's first colonial vineyards resided. Brought back to live by the Cowley family in the 1990's, the estate today is organic and home to some pretty old Sauvignon Blanc vines.
Part of what makes this wine so unique and delicious is the way its made. Whereas most Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs are fermented entirely in stainless steel, this one sees partial (15%) fermentation in seasoned French barriques. This adds a wonderful restraint and texture to the finished wine.
Possessing explosive aromas of elderflower, passion fruit, citrus, melon, and green herbs, the palate is equally enjoyable. Though this is certainly lively, it's a bit more elegant and refined than most Kiwi Sauvies. Highly recommended!
