Albarino has become a go-to white wine for many of our customers due to its inherent deliciousness and its versatility at the table. Since 1990, Jose Maria Fonseca and his family have farmed the vineyards of Spain's Rias Baixas zone with care and attention to detail, and they specialize in one grape: Albarino.
Like the title reads, this has a bit more body and richness than a lot of Albarinos, but trust me, it still stays fresh and juicy on the palate. Whether you need a crowd-pleasing white for a holiday party or a seafood dinner, this would do the trick.
2022 Terras Gauda Albarino 'Abadia de San Campio': Why should you but it?
- From a hot and dry year, the winery used their best and oldest fruit from their more elevated holdings. This worked out beautifully, as the aromas and flavors are ripe but not overripe. There's good body, but there's underlying freshness too.
- Albarino is just easy. It has characteristics you'd find in Sauvignon Blanc and Dry Riesling, but it's kind of got its own thing going on too.
- Wine Enthusiast rated this 92 points, and I agree with the score and the description. "This light straw-colored wine has a nose of nectarine and orange blossom. It is bright from the first sip, with lemon-lime, grapefruit and passion fruit flavors. A savory note of dried Mediterranean herbs infuses the vivid finish."
If seafood or the Feast of the Seven Fishes is being cooked at your home any time in the near future, this beautiful white wine would do the trick.
