2022 Domaine des Chasseignes Sancerre Blanc

The Return of Affordable Sancerre: 2024 Domaine des Chasseignes Sancerre

There’s just something about Sancerre this time of year that I love. As the weather warms up, it just tastes better to me. Brighter, fresher, more alive. And the Chasseignes’ version really hits that sweet spot.

Domaine des Chasseignes Sancerre

Domaine des Chasseignes Sancerre is about as classic as it gets, and it’s also a great value. It’s getting harder and harder to find well-made, traditional Sancerre under $35, but I managed to do just that. This small, certified organic estate is imported by our friends at Haw River Wine Merchant, and because I’m buying directly from them, I’m able to cut out one of the usual markups.

This small domaine is run with passion and attention-to-detail by Aurore Dezat and her husband David Girard. They grow Sauvignon Blanc on the classic limestone, clay, and flint soils of Sancerre, and that terroir combination gives their wine wonderful energy and great depth.

Chasseignes' 2024 Sancerre is a wine that will bring a smile to your face. It certainly did that for me! Pure notes of green apple, Bosc pear, citrus zest, and flinty minerality lead into a crisp, clean, and concentrated palate with just enough weight and texture to let you know you're drinking the good stuff.

You all loved the 2023, and I think this one is just as good. I brought in as much as I could, but I don’t expect it to stick around at this price.

If you love Sancerre like I do, I’d grab a six-pack. You’ll be glad you did.
