Muscadet is better than ever, and we should all be drinking more of it, myself included. That's exactly what I'm doing tonight, and I'm finding a very complete, compelling, and satisfying wine in the 2022 Chateau l'Oiseliniere Muscadet Sevre et Maine.
I love whites with full flavors and luscious texture, but I want some acidity and minerality present as well -- this delivers the best of both of those worlds. It's a wonderful value in hand-crafted, traditional French white wine.
2022 Chateau l'Oiseliniere Muscadet Sevre et Maine Sur Lie
Why should you buy it?
- It's Muscadet, not Moscato! Muscadet is composed of the Melon de Bourgogne grape and unlike Moscato, it is bone-dry, high-toned, and super-minerally.
- I love selling it to Chablis-seekers who don't have Chablis-budgets? It's green apple, lemon, and mineral flavors are reminiscent of Chablis, but Muscadet has its own thing going on.
- L'Oiseliniere's Muscadet comes from old vines planted at the rocky confluence of the Sevre and Maine Rivers. You will just have to trust me when I say that this is "Prime Melon Terroir."
- The aromas are just as enjoyable as the flavors. Catching a whiff of this wine recalls the sea, oysters, and a shallot mignonette. It's salty and savory, rich in texture, and tart on the finish.
I'm getting hungry, and I hope you're getting thirsty.....for Muscadet! Enjoy with oysters, but don't discount this wine as an aperitif because it totally works there too.
