2022 Wayfarer Estate Pinot Noir

My Favorite California Pinot Noir: 2022 Wayfarer Estate Pinot Noir

I opened a bottle of Wayfarer's Estate Pinot Noir the other night, and it reaffirmed something I've believed for years: Cleo and Jayson Pahlmeyer are making one of the finest Pinot Noirs in California.

The critics agree. Antonio Galloni awarded it 96 points and called it "a wine of total class and understatement," while Jeb Dunnuck went even higher at 97 points. That's impressive enough on its own, but what really caught my attention is that this wine outperformed a number of Sonoma Coast and Russian River heavyweights that sell for considerably more. The quality here is undeniable.

Wayfarer Estate Pinot Noir

We're offering this for $89.99 per bottle (no further discounts), and there are 12 bottles up for grabs.

That's one of the best prices in the US!

The story starts with the vineyard. In 1998, Jayson Pahlmeyer purchased this remote Sonoma Coast property at the urging of Helen Turley and John Wetlaufer of Marcassin, whose legendary vineyard sits just down the road. More than two decades later, Wayfarer has firmly established itself as one of California's great Pinot Noir estates. Mature vines, an extraordinary coastal site, and meticulous farming provide the foundation for wines of remarkable depth, elegance, and complexity.

That pedigree of place is on full display in the 2022 Estate Pinot Noir. The nose is absolutely captivating, with aromas of ripe cherry, wild strawberry, rose petal, black tea, blood orange, mint, and salty ocean air. On the palate, it's lively, energetic, and beautifully detailed, with tremendous length and purity. This is one of those wines that keeps revealing new layers as it sits in the glass.

And it will keep revealing those layers and added depth over the next 10 to 12 years. If you love world-class Pinot Noir, don't let this one get away.

Just 24 bottles available. You know what to do next!
