Joan d'Anguera Les Maiols Garnacha 2023

The Prettiest Garnacha in the World: Joan d'Anguera Les Maiols

Brothers Joan and Josep d'Anguera make one of the prettiest and most ethereal Spanish Garnachas we've ever encountered. It's called Les Maiols, and it means "small bushes," referencing the organic, dry-farmed bush vines the brothers farm. It is an undeniable customer and staff favorite.

Ethereal is defined by the Oxford Dictionary as being "extremely delicate and light in a way that seems to be perfect for this world." What a perfect description for this light yet full-flavored and highly aromatic red wine.

Almost Pinot Noir or Gamay-like in its "ease of drinkability," Les Maiols is not only delicious, it's also a wonderful value in truly hand-crafted and organic Spanish red wine. We've got 120 bottles up for grabs at deal pricing.

Les Maiols Garnacha

2023 Joan d’Anguera Montsant 'Les Maiols' Garnacha

Light in color but bold and giving in flavor, I could drink this all day. - Yours Truly - 94 points

I’m going to get right to my tasting notes before I get into the nitty gritty of the producer and their ways and means. This is quite pale ruby in the glass, but the aromas just explode out of the glass. A lovely perfume of fresh cherry, strawberry, raspberry, rose petal, and white pepper are all on display.

The palate is just as pleasurable. Juicy, fresh, silky, and vibrant, this is very easy to drink, but it's not at all simple. There's a depth of flavor and aroma here that you don't always get with wines this pale in color. I love, love, love it!

I love the d'Angeras techniques too. Located in Montsant, just south of Priorat in Spanish Catalonia, they farm organically and biodynamically. Not because it's cool and trendy to do so, but because it creates healthier vines, better grapes, and tastier wines.

Their hard work and dedication to preserving their land and vineyards has led them to great success, as they are considered one of the top producers in Montsant. Stock up on this one to drink while you're waiting for your Chateauneufs and Priorats to age to perfection.

It also pairs wonderfully with turkey, chicken, salmon, and charcuterie, and we all know we're gonna' be doing some eating and drinking this holiday season. If you know it, get a sixer; if not, give it a try, and taste why so many love it.
