Father and son Giovanni and Alessandro Prandi are the kind of humble and hardworking farmers I've championed at Table Wine since we opened our doors in 2010. They farm organically, do everything by hand, and make tiny amounts of wine in their house and basement.
They find great peace staying close to their home and their vineyards, and most of their wines are sold to the local market. In a good year, they'll produce a total of 1,500 cases of wine, and they make 3 different wines! The estate's Nebbiolo, like their Barbera and Dolcetto which we also stock, is off-the-charts delicious!
2020 Prandi Giovanni Nebbiolo d'Alba -- Here's why you should buy it:
- It's one of the prettiest Italian reds in the shop, showcasing the splendors of Nebbiolo. Laced with aromas and flavors of cherry, tart strawberry, plum, violet, rose petal exotic spices, and earth, it's a wine I could smell all day.
- This one is ready to drink NOW, like TONIGHT! Whereas Nebbiolos from Barbaresco and Barolo can take a decade or longer to show their best, this is drinking like a dream right now.
- It comes from that "little winery off the beaten path" that made your trip to Northern Italy so special. Maybe you had a glass at the local trattoria with mushroom risotto, and all you could keep saying is "I won't be able to find this when I get home." Yes you can!
- Just 500 cases of this organically made red were produced in the wonderful 2020 vintage. It's amazing that any makes it to the US, but we've got 84 bottles up for grabs.
