Visconti I Bruciati 2020

Baby Brunello at a Crazy-Good Price: Visconti Rosso Toscana 'I Bruciati'

If you love Brunello di Montalcino but hate paying $50+ per bottle, I've got the solution to that problem. It's THIS WINE from one of the top estates in Montalcino. I know this may sound too good to be true, but I promise you this delivers a ton of classic Tuscan soul and character at less than $20! It literally smells and tastes a lot like Brunello, but it's much softer and doesn't need to be laid down for a decade or more.

I Bruciati is produced by La Palazzetta, a wonderful, family-run producer of Brunello di Montalcino. 100% Sangiovese grown in Castelnuovo dell’Abate, one of the key villages of the DOCG, this is one of the great Italian red wine values of all time. It is also one of my top Italian red wine finds of 2022.

Though somewhat new on the scene, La Palazzetta has quickly established itself as an elite producers of Brunello di Montalcino. Flavio and Carla Fanti made their first wines in 1988, with just one precious hectare of Sangiovese. Today, their holdings have grown, and their children Luca and Tea are slowly taking over the day-to-day activities. Visconti is the "kid's project," and it's their attempt to make highly drinkable, super tasty, and very affordable wines. All I can say is BRAVO, and keep up the good work.

This is a family with a deep respect for their land, and all of their vineyards are certified organic. That's great and all, but I don't buy wines just because they're organic, they have to taste good first and foremost. Trust me, this stuff tastes amazing, especially for the price. With aromas and flavors similar to Brunello, but with a much softer and more approachable texture and mouthfeel, this is a ton of wine for the money.

All Sangiovese brought up in tank, this is made from younger vines that will eventually go into the family's Brunello. Offering up soaring notes of ripe cherry, strawberry, sage, mint, and anise, this is soft, plump, and 100% pleasure-bent. The ease with which this drinks is downright dangerous, and I can't wait to enjoy a bottle with my Bolognese in the very near future.

I encourage you to do the same. This is drinking great now, and I feel confident it will continue to do so for another 3-5 years. I highly recommend you take advantage of the volume/deal pricing. We've got 28 cases of this one to sell. That might seem like a lot, but trust me, this is a wine a lot of our folks are going to like. You know what to do next :)
