On Sale Through 8/5/23 -- Gregoire Hoppenot is one of Beaujolais' newest all-stars, and his wines are about to blow up. With a cult-like following in France and Western Europe, it's just a matter of time before Greg's wines take off in the US.

Jancis Robinson, Master of Wine, on the 2020 vintage of this wine: "Absolute bullseye of a wine with everything in its place. Long too. Definitely underpriced."

Hoppenot's Origines Fleurie combines pure deliciousness and gulpability with a depth and complexity that makes it so attractive. This is that perfect, ready-to-drink red you want in your glass on a summer evening. Just 84 bottles up for grabs.

William Kelley of the Wine Advocate is one of our country's most gifted writers, and his review is spot-on. "Bursting with aromas of raspberries, petals and sweet spices, the 2021 Fleurie Origines is medium-bodied, satiny and fleshy, with lively acids and a saline finish. Melting and fine-boned, it's an ethereal, refreshing wine that's already drinking well."

Gregoire Hoppenot was named "Newcomer of the Year" by La Revue des Vins France, the country's top wine magazine, in 2020. This was well-earned, as this guy does everything by hand. That means organic farming, old vines, native yeasts, and minimal sulfur additions all in the pursuit of purity.

Texture and classic old vine Gamay flavors are the name of the game here. There's body and grip too, which suggests this might age well, but I have no plans to lay any down. I do, however, have plans to enjoy a bottle of this chilled with some barbecued chicken, my homemade mac and cheese, and a couple of wine-loving companions.

One last note -- this is no simple Beaujolais. Far from it, this gives us some of the flavors and silkiness of a Red Burgundy along with some of the more wild and sauvage notes of a Northern Rhone Syrah. Get some before it's gone!

Drinking great now, this will continue to deliver the goods through 2028, maybe longer. Enjoy with grilled salmon, roasted chicken, or a big spread of bread, pate, cheeses, and cured meats like they do in Beaujolais. Cheers and keep drinking the good stuff folks!
