While R. Dutoit is best known for their Pouilly-Fuissés, they also work with some lovely, sun-kissed old vines in the Roussillon, in Southern France. It is here that they make their Les Vieilles Collines, a gorgeous, golden-fruited, and exotic Chardonnay.
These 30-year-old vines are situated in the same general vicinity as those that go into the La Colline aux Fossiles, and like that best-seller, there is a ton to like about this fresh and un-oaked French Chardonnay, most of all the price!
Buy a Solid Six-Pack: $13.99/bottle -- over 20% off the regular price!
Anything Less: $17.99/bottle -- still a great deal on a super classy white.
2024 R. Dutoit 'Les Vielles Collines' Chardonnay -- Why should you buy it?
- With basic Macon-Villages costing $20+ these days, it's time to look outside of Burgundy for crisp and bright Chardonnay values. Look no further, I found it for you......that is my job after all!
- If you like Colline aux Fossiles, you will like this. They are much more similar than they are different -- no oak, good concentration and liveliness, and wonderful notes of golden apple, pear, white peach, citrus zest, white flowers, and mineral.
- This white loves to be served with trout, salmon, crab cakes, roast chicken, and pork tenderloin. Yes, it's quite versatile at the dinner table!
It also makes for a wonderful aperitif, so skip the food if you don't feel like cooking! When we put the Colline aux Fossiles Chard on sale, it flies out of the shop at a rapid pace. I'm pretty sure this will have similar results.
