For fans of light, crisp, "pop-and-pour" whites that overdeliver in a big way, you've got to try the 2024 Colombelle Caprice Blanc.
This classic Gascogne blend of 70% Colombard and 30% Gros Manseng is light, vibrant, and highly aromatic. When I tasted this last week, I was surprised and delighted to find a white wine that would go toe-to-toe with Domaine Duffour, another fantastic value from Gascogne in Southwestern France.
This stuff literally jumps out of the glass with vibrant notes of fresh citrus, tropical fruits, white peach, and quince. Dry, low in alcohol (11.5% ABV), and as refreshing as white wine gets, this is an extreme value in my book!
Not only is this a great value and a serious crowd-pleaser, it doesn't taste like a large production, "factory wine" because it isn't one! There's depth to the aromas and flavors, and the bright and zippy acidity makes this food-friendly but just as good solo.
It’s the bottle you bring to the table when someone says, “I just want something light and delicious.” Enjoy with seafood, fish, salads, or nothing at all.
