Montirius is one of the most celebrated estates of the Southern Rhone. Run with passion and care by the Saurel family for 6 generations, they were one of the Southern Rhone's first estates to gain biodynamic certification in 1996. They are proud vignerons, and they spend a lot of time together in their vineyards, keeping a close watch on the health of their vines. It definitely shows in their wines.
The Saurel's Le Cadet Rouge is a great introduction to the Montirius house style, one that is marked by elegance and lift as opposed to thickness and ripeness. Do not take that to mean this is a light wine -- it's ample in body, aroma, and flavor, it just has more balance and freshness, and I personally find that to be the style of wine myself and more of our customers are looking for these days.
