Brick and Mortar is new on the scene, but they are making serious waves. Once you get their 2023 Anderson Valley Pinot Noir into your glass, you'll understand why!
Balanced, complex, and silky, this performs like a cool-climate Pinot that would run you $50+. I'm not surprised that both Jeb Dunnuck and Wine Enthusiast rated it 94 points. Wonderfully pure, it showcases perfumed notes of red and dark berries, rose petal, orange peel, and exotic spices on the long and supple palate. Bravo!
As you can see from Wine Enthusiast's review below, our price is well below the $40 suggested retail too!

Brick and Mortar was founded in 2011 by Burgundy-loving couple Matt and Alexis Iaconis. After Matt spent the summer of 2010 in Burgundy, he returned to the states with a commitment to producing cool-climate, terroir-driven, and Burgundy-inspired wines in California. “Less is more,” he says. “Nowadays, while I maintain the wine, I do almost nothing once the wine hits the barrel, and minimal prior to that.”
The Anderson Valley AVA is one of California's most prized and respected zones for cool-climate Pinot Noir. The region is in Mendocino County, just 10 miles from the Pacific ocean, and the fog, maritime winds, and large day-night temperature swings combine to create ideal conditions for making aromatic, complex, and delicious Pinot Noirs.
Matt's "less-is-more" philosophy is definitely at play in his 2023 Anderson Valley Pinot Noir. Fermented with native yeasts and aged for just 8 months in French oak, the finished wine is highly attractive, and I think Wine Enthusiast's review sums it up perfectly.
"This wine is vibrant, with aromas of baked Bing cherry, strawberry, plum, dried herbs and vanilla cream on the nose. Flavors of red currant-cranberry confiture and orange bitters wrap around cardamom spice, chicory and a long, supple finish. Hold or drink until 2032."
94 points, less than $30, and perfect for pairing with grilled salmon, chicken, or pork tenderloin, this has got to be one of California's top Pinot Noir values.
