The Hendry family have been farming the same land since 1939! Located just west of the city of Napa, at the foot of Mount Veeder, they are farmers first, and they realize that good wine starts with good grapes. Owner Mike Hendry said that "2021 was pretty much perfect, and we harvested a lovely crop of healthy and ripe Cabernet Sauvignon."
Those healthy grapes were put to good use in this 950-case production wine. Aged for 24 months in new French oak, the combo of perfectly ripened fruit and toasty oak came together to create a wine that can best be summed up with 2 words: DECADENTLY DELICIOUS! Full-bodied and plush, this flows beautifully with notes of cassis, warm plum, dark cherry, mocha, spice box, cedar, and tobacco.
Despite being large and in-charge, it's totally approachable now. The tannin is quite ripe and fine-grained, the fruit is perfectly ripened, and the very high-quality and primarily new French oak is perfectly integrated. It all adds up to a sumptuous, smooth, and sensational drinking experience. Drink now through 2035.
I'd personally rate this 95 points, and I will be saving a bottle to enjoy with beef at this year's Christmas dinner. I recommend you do the same!
