Masseria Starnali 'Santo Sano' Aglianico Roccamonfina

Brand new to the US are the wines of this small, biodynamic, family-run estate. Luigi Ferrara has captured the fresher side of Aglianico, one of Italy's top 3 varieties and one of the most noble grapes in the world. With his Santo Santo, he also blends in 20% of the spicy Piedirosso grape to produce a highly aromatic and lively red wine.

Fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel, this comes gushing out of the glass with aromas of pepper, violet, rosemary, thyme, cured meat, and dark berries. With time in glass, those intense spicy and savory notes mellow and meld with the blackberry and mulberry fruit. Lively on the palate with juicy acids and firm tannins, this is Old World red wine all the way. Fabulous!
