Chateau Cantemerle has roots dating back to the Middle Ages, with vines documented on the estate as early as 1354. In 1855, Cantemerle was named a Fifth Growth, or Cinquieme Cru Classe, in Bordeaux's famous Classification of 1855, making it one of the historic classified estates of the Medoc.
The wine is traditionally based on Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot completing the blend. Classic Medoc character shines through with notes of black cherry, cassis, tobacco, cedar, graphite, and earthy spice. Structured and fresh, with fine tannins and a savory finish, this is classic Bordeaux at its best.
