The Wines

1. 2013 Talbott “Kali Hart” Chardonnay (Monterey, California) – Talbott’s entry level Chardonnay is named after the family’s youngest daughter. Produced with fruit from younger estate vineyards, the wine see just a touch of French oak aging, and the resulting wine is beautifully balanced and pure. Pineapple, honeydew melon, golden apple, and just a touch of butter and spice combine to make this one of the best selling California Chards in the store.

2. 2013 Talbott “Sleepy Hollow Vineyard” Chardonnay (Santa Lucia Highlands, California) – For fans of superbly rich and powerful Chardonnays, you don’t want to miss this one! Made with fruit the oldest block of Chardonnay vines in the Sleepy Hollow Vineyard (planted in 1972), this barrel fermented, full malolactic Chardonnay is creamy and delicious with gorgeous notes of brioche, white peach, pear and tropical fruits. 94 points Table Wine

3. 2013 Talbott “Kali Hart” Pinot Noir (Monterey, California) – Although Talbott is recognized as a Chardonnay producer extraordinaire, we think their Pinot Noirs deserve a lot more recognition than they get. Made to be bright, delicious, and accessible upon release, this one sees just nine months aging in mainly neutral/used French oak. The result is a prototype Central Coast Pinot Noir marked by aromas and flavors of fresh cherry, strawberry, plum and vanilla. Smooth and seamless on the palate, this is silk in a glass.

4. 2013 Talbott “Sleepy Hollow Vineyard” Pinot Noir (Santa Lucia Highlands, California) – Like the Sleepy Hollow Chardonnay, this is produced with fruit from the estate’s oldest blocks, and those old vines give this wine beautiful richness and complexity. Aged for ten months in French oak (30% new), this one flows out of the glass with notes of lush cherry, plum, forest floor, and nicely integrated French oak notes. 94 points Table Wine
