This tiny, husband and wife run estate have produced one of the best 2020 Oregon Pinot Noirs we have tasted. A vintage that has received a lot of negative press due to smoke taint, Le Cadeau's vineyards are in the northern part of the Willamette Valley where the smoke wasn't nearly as bad.
Still, it was a challenging year, and proprietors Deb and Tom Mortimer decided to put fruit that usually goes into their Reserve wines into this one. Their Reserve wines typically score huge and sell for $90+. That pedigree is very evident in this thrill ride of a wine. Boasting wonderful concentration, this tastes of ripe cherry, raspberry, exotic spices, and just a whiff of smoke (from oak, not smoke taint). Juicy and plush on the palate, this possesses great acidity and fine tannin that suggests this will drink well now and over the next 10 years.
