Nuria Altes makes what might be the best red wine value in the world. Old vines, certified organic farming, and meticulous work should cost a lot more than this. Her Garnatxa Negre comes from hand-harvested grapes from vines that range in age from 12 to 90 years old. Fermented in concrete tanks, the resulting wine is rich, ripe, supple, and elegant.
Bursting with notes of kirsch, red plum, white pepper, and mineral, this full-bodied, pleasure-bent red will appeal to a wide range of palates. By mixing old and young vine fruit, and fermenting in concrete, Nuria is able to create an affordable, lively, and elegant version of Garnatxa showcasing the delicate Pinot-side of the variety
