COS Frappato

Founded in 1980 in Sicily’s Vittoria zone, COS was created by three friends whose surnames form the estate’s name. Led by Giusto Occhipinti, COS became one of the pioneering producers of Sicily’s wine renaissance, championing organic farming, native yeast fermentations, and low-intervention winemaking long before it became mainstream. Today, the estate remains a benchmark for authentic, terroir-driven Sicilian wines.

Frappato is one of Sicily’s most distinctive native red grapes, prized for its perfume, freshness, and energy rather than power. COS’s version highlights the grape beautifully with notes of wild strawberry, red cherry, raspberry, rose petal, and Mediterranean herbs, backed by bright acidity and a savory edge. Light on its feet yet full of character, it’s a wonderfully food-friendly red that also drinks great with a slight chill.
