Benoit Cantin is one of the leading producers in the Irancy AOC, in the far northern reaches of Burgundy. Just south of Chablis, the Pinot Noirs produced here are grown on the same Kimmeridgian limestone soils, and they possess an intense minerality combined with soulful and savory streak that Red Burg lovers will adore.

Vintage 2020 was hot, dry, and sunny, and this wine is clicking on all cylinders. Produced from 40+ year-old vines, it offers the perfect mix of fruit and earth. There's wonderfully ripened cherry, blood orange, and wild raspberry, but there's great complexity here too. Violet, rose petal, spice, chalk, fennel, and freshly cracked pepper are also on display.

Like Sancerre Rouge, Irancy has been adored by Parisians due to its close proximity to the city. We could see how a wine like this would be amazing in a bistro served along side anything from steak frites and roast chicken to salmon and charcuterie. YUM!
