Wood-Fired Deliciousness and Tuscan Wines

“A Taste of Tuscany”

The Wood Fired Oven of Love

A fun and adventurous bunch of wine and food lovers gathered at the Caldwell’s house in The Ramble this past Thursday night to enjoy a night of wood-fired deliciousness and Tuscan wine. The event exceeded all of my expectations, and I hope that people don’t expect all of our events to be this pimpin’. Tricia Caldwell and Sharon Powell spent most of the day preparing the food for this bash, and they did a wonderful job. There was pizza and lots of it, crostini with an assortment of dips, pork tenderloin with fennel, cheese, fruit and on and on.

The wines, I must say, were all very good as they were selected by yours truly to pair with the wide variety of flavors going on here. Sangiovese in all of its glory and various permutations was the star of the night, with the Montesecondo Rosso being many folks favorite wine of the night. The 2004 Casanova di Neri showed very nicely too, but in all honesty, I thought all of the wines performed nicely. A special thanks to Tricia and Jerry Caldwell for hosting, and an extra-special thanks to Tricia and Sharon for cooking up such a wonderful and visually pleasing feast.
