1. 1. 2014 Gini Soave Classico (Veneto, Italy) – Gini is not only one of the best producers of Soave, they are one of the top white wine producers in the entire country. Unlike many of the mass market Soaves that are watered down and innocuous, the Gini family craft white wines that are deeper colored, richer, and more nuanced………being that the family has farmed in the region since 1600, that should come as no surprise. Their current release is almost golden in color with exotic notes of white peach, tangerine, apple and white flowers. 90 points Wine Enthusiast
2. 2014 Ampeleia Unlitro (Tuscany, Italy) – This biodynamic/organic red wine from Tuscany is made by the super talented Elisabetta Foradori. The blend is Grenache and Mourvedre which thrive in the warm and sunny condtions of Tuscany. Fresh, juicy, charming and joyful to drink, this is a great one for fans of Beaujolais and Pinot Noir. Even better, it comes in a liter bottle giving you an extra 1/3 of a bottle!
3. 2011 Tenuta Monteti Caburnio (Tuscnay, Italy) – Famed wine writer sums it up pretty nicely – “Tenuta Monteti remains arguably the single finest source for reasonably priced wines in Maremma.” Produced from organically cultivated grapes from the warm and sunny coast of Tuscany, this offers up big, bold Super Tuscan flavors at a ridiculously good price. A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 15% Alicante-Bouschet, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, this dazzles with intense notes of dark cherry, blackberry, mint, herb and spice notes.
