Try Three For Free Wine Tasting — California’s Greatest Value Brand — Foxglove Winery — Saturday, December 5th from 2-5 p.m. — Brothers Jim and Bob Varner created the Foxglove line of wines to demonstrate that great wines from California don’t have to cost a lot of money. By sourcing fruit from vineyards throughout the Central Coast and using little or no new oak, they are able to produce pure, fruit driven, and delicious wines that sell for a song. Robert Parker says “(t)hese are absolutely spectacular bargains from the very high-quality Varner Winery in the Santa Cruz Mountains. This is their less expensive line-up of wines, and I encourage readers to try them – they are true winners.” Join us as we try all three of their wines. Stop by, taste, learn and save up to 20% off on all of the featured tasting wines.
The Wines
1. 2012 Foxglove Chardonnay (Central Coast, California) – This stainless steel fermented, non-malo Chardonnay is consistently one of California’s great white wine values. Moderately rich, but light on its feet, it displays lovely notes of white peach, apple blossom, lemon oil, mint and subtle spice notes.
2. 2012 Foxglove Zinfandel (Paso Robles) – Like the Chardonnay, Foxglove’s Zinfandel is fermented entirely in stainless steel. The resulting wine is medium bodied, pure, and loaded with classic Zinfandel character. Sweet red berries and spicy, peppery notes all come together in this soft, lush, and easy drinking red.
3. 2013 Foxglove Cabernet Sauvignon (Paso Robles) – Wine critic Antonio Galloni thinks very highly of the current release of Foxglove’s Cab. “The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the truly great values in California Cabernet Sauvignon.” Plump, juicy, ripe and a perfect candidate for sipping with or without food, this is a delicious wine at a great price.
