Saturday, January 4th from 2-5 pm – It’s our first free wine tasting of 2020 and we’re pouring five great wines to welcome the new year. Stop by to try some new arrivals along with some old favorites.
People often ask what is the best way to learn about wine. And my answer is always the same — TASTE IT! And I’m not kidding here folks. You can read every wine book out there and you can go to wine classes galore. But until you can begin to understand and describe your sensory experience with wine, the stuff you learn in books and classes doesn’t make a lot of sense. And that’s where we come in! Last year we poured over 300 wines for free and we’re planning to pour even more wines this year. Join us every Saturday at Table Wine to taste, learn, and save!

Just stop by — we’ve got plenty of free parking.
1. 2018 Bohigas Xarel-lo (Penedes, Spain) – Xarel-lo is the grape and it’s one of the traditional grapes used in Cava production and Bohigas is one of our favorite Cava producers. They also make this still (non-sparkling) white wine based entirely on Xarel-lo. Naturally high in acidity and showing off lively notes of lemon, green apple, and green herbs, here’s a great alternative to Sauvignon Blanc.
2. 2018 Terre Brulee Chenin Blanc (Swartland, South Africa) – Vincent and Tania Careme make stunning wines in Vouvray in the Loire Valley of France. But a few years back, they decided to “take their show on the road,” and we’re glad they set up their second winery in South Africa. This is an excellent rendition of South African Chenin Blanc with beautiful texture combined with great acidity and minerality.
3. 2018 Poggio di Bortolone Frappato (Sicily, Italy) – For fans of lighter and fresher reds like Gamay and Pinot Noir, you’re gonna’ love this organic red wine brought to us by importer Jay Murrie of Piedmont Wine Imports. Juicy, highly aromatic, low in tannin but high in acidity, this red fruited, floral scented wine is fun and a little too easy to knock back.
4. 2018 Casa Ferreirinha Esteva (Douro Valley, Portugal) – Esteva is kind of like the “national red wine” of Portugal. It’s served at all sorts of establishments, from neighborhood bars and restaurants to fine dining establishments. When you taste it, you’ll understand why! For less than $10, you’ll struggle to find a better red wine. Showcasing lively red fruits along with more complex floral and spice notes, it’s a ton of wine for the money.
5. Surprise Wine – We’ll end with a nice little surprise. A couple of wine periodicals have called this one the best Cabernet Sauvignon value on the planet. Stop by and see what you think.
