Try 3 For Free Wine Tasting - Southern French Wine Values

Saturday, March 18th from 2-5 pm — Stop by the store (directions here) for a festive and free wine tasting featuring a trio of stunning Southern French wine values! Free to the public and you can drop by any time between 2 and 5 pm.

Southern France is home to some of the greatest wine values on the planet. The warm and sunny, Mediterranean-influenced conditions are ideal for the vine, and the resulting wines are richly fruited and often marked by spicy nuances. Join us as we pour you 3 of our favorites! We’ll start with the Domaine Lafage Miraflors Blanc, our current Wine of the Week and a wine that literally tastes like spring in a bottle. Up next, we’ll pour you a hearty and rustic little red from the Southern Rhone. To finish, we’ll pour the new vintage (2015) of one of our favorite Cotes du Rhones — the exceptional 2015 vintage has yielded an excellent wine that sells for a song. Stop by, taste, learn and save big on all of the tasting wines!

1. 2015 Domaine Lafage Miraflors Blanc (Roussillon, France) – “A blend of close to equal parts Grenache Blanc, Vermentino, Viognier, Muscat and Grenache Gris that was raised all in tank (with plenty of lees contact), it offers exotic aromas and flavors of mint, citrus peel and lemon to go with a medium-bodied, bright, fresh style on the palate that’s ideal for a hot summer day.” — Jeb Dunnuck — The Wine Advocate — 90 points

2. 2015 Isle Saint-Pierre Rouge (Rhone Valley, France) – This obscure, but delicious and juicy blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Arinarnoa, and Petit Verdot comes from an island in the middle of the Rhone River. It is medium bodied, fresh, spicy and low in tannin red makin git a great one to have with or without food.

3. 2014 La Grange de Piaugier Cotes du Rhone (Rhone Valley, France) – I would venture to guess that at least six of my mortgage payments have been “assisted” by our sales of various Cotes du Rhones. This one is a great example of why so many love the red wines of Southern France. Mainly Grenache, with smaller portions of Syrah, Mourvedre, and a few others, it’s medium bodied, juicy, and spicy with moderate earthy complexity. Talk about a chuggable red…….
