The Wines
1. 2013 Vega Sindoa Viura/Chardonnay (Navarra, Spain): Remember that delicious Garnacha we featured a couple months back? This comes from that same operation in Navarra, in northern Spain. Composed of 75% Viura and 25% Chardonnay all fermented in stainless steel, it shows notes of green apple, white peach, honeysuckle and ginger are complemented by poached pear. Rated 89 points by Stephen Tanzer, you won’t believe how good this is for the price!
2. 2012 Vega Sindoa Tempranillo (Navarra, Spain): Sindoa’s Tempranillo also scored 89 points with Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar and like the white, it sells for a song. Smooth, juicy, and laced with ripe cherry and blueberry fruit as well as a gentle spiciness, it is a ton of wine for less than $10!
3. 2013 Ca’Momi Rosso di Napa (Napa Valley, California): Ca’Momi’s red blend contains several grapes, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel and Petite Sirah all playing nicely together. Round, medium bodied, and silky, it exhibits aromas and flavors of ripe berries, spices and toasty oak. It’s the perfect red to have around the house for everyday drinking and it’s priced so you can do so!
