Summer-Friendly Italian Wines - Free Wine Tasting

Stop by the store this Saturday, August 2nd any time between 2 and 5 p.m. for an educational and free wine tasting. This Saturday, we’re exploring Italian wines, from the obscure and unique to the more well known. Italy is home to close to 3,000 grape varieties used to make wine, and we’re going to introduce some of you to some new ones for sure. These are wines perfect for drinking without food in the summer heat or with classic Italian fare.

We’ll start with the 2012 Visintini Cinzia Bianco, a certified organic blend of Friulano and Picolit. Light, dry, fresh and possessing mouthwatering acidity, it offers up pretty notes of green apple, lemon, pear and flowers and makes for a great alternative to Pinot Grigio. Next, the 2012 Visintini Palmira Rosso blends Cab and Merlot with Northern Italy’s native Schioppettino grape. Fruit forward, low in tannin, and high in charm, this Northern Italian red is Italy’s answer to French Beaujolais. And we’ll finish with the 2011 Lucignano Chianti Colli Fiorentini, a traditional and easy drinking blend of Sangiovese and Canaiolo. Bright, fresh, and loaded with sweet cherry, strawberry, and spice, this is a red that shines with pizza or pasta and red sauce. We’ll see you this Saturday for a tremendous opportunity to taste, learn and save at our free wine tasting.

Tasting wines are 10% off by the bottle, 15% off when you mix any six of them and 20% off if you mix twelve!
