Friday, August 5 and Saturday, August 6 at Table Wine – Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. – FREE to the public – Table Wine is the wine store to be at on Fridays and Saturdays this summer. Since there is no Wine Down this Friday, it will be a “Josh Picks Two” tasting, whereby I pick two of my favorite wines in the store and share them with you.
We follow this up on Saturday with our “Free Try Before You Buy” wine tasting, and we also have our own little farmer’s market going on in the store with produce from Tom Kousky’s Hominy Valley Organic farm. Not only can you taste and buy some great wines, you can also buy the makings of a wonderful dinner. Join us this Saturday as we taste some new arrivals to the store.
1. Las Lilas Vinho Verde, Portugal – Summertime fun in a bottle, this fruity, slightly effervescent, lip-smackingly good white from Portugal will make you forget that it’s 95 degrees outside. It’s super fresh and offers up aromas and flavors of apple, pear, citrus and floral notes.
2. Avinyo Vi D’Agulla Penedes, Spain – This is one of those wines that will put a smile on your face. It’s 100% Muscat, it’s frizzante, and it smells like it’s going to be sweet………but it’s not. I could easily put an entire bottle of this away in about 10 minutes.
3. Cueto Tendencia Rioja – If you were to come into the store and tell me that you’d never had Rioja, but wanted to try one, this would be what I’d recommend. Mellow, red fruited, earthy and spicy, this is “graduated” Rioja at a “grade school” price.
4. Quinta do Encontro Tinto – This is destined to become a new Table Wine best seller, and we can’t wait for everyone to try it. A blend of 90% Baga and 10% Merlot from Barraida, Portugal, this is rich and intense and easily tastes like a wine costing twice the price.
