1. 2009 Domaine Jean Touzot Macon Villages “Vieilles Vignes”, France – Jean Touzot makes what we believe to be a classic rendition of Chardonnay from the southern part of Burgundy, aka the Maconnais. It is crunchy and crisp with bright apple and citrus fruit and subtle minerality. It is a great all season white wine that requires little contemplation and maximum enjoyment.
$12.99/bottle……………..$5/glass

2. 2010 Falesco Vitiano Bianco Umbria, Italy – Falesco is one of the most prolific estates in Umbria and Riccardo Cotarella and family consistently make great wines where the price to quality ratio always benefits the customer. This one is equal parts Verdicchio and Vermentino, and it is dry and peachy with additional tropical fruit and melon notes. The palate is super creamy and soft making this a great everyday wine to serve with or without food.
$10.99/bottle…………..$4/glass

3. 2007 Fattoria Casabianca Chianti Colli Senesi, Italy – Alberto Cenni has been making wine in this part of Chianti for over thirty years. He uses all estate-grown fruit from their farm located just over the border from the famed Montalcino region. The wine is based on a blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot and this is classic, rustic Chianti with bright cherry fruit, subtle earth nuances and spice notes. Perfect for red sauced pasta dishes.
$11.99/bottle…………..$5/glass

4. 2008 Primitivo Quiles Monastrell “Cono 4” Alicante, Spain – This mysteriously named wine comes from the Primitivo Quiles family, one of the oldest in Alicante and they focus their wine production almost entirely on Monastrell, aka Mourvedre. The grape really thrives in the hot, dry and rugged landscape of Alicante and these conditions also allow for organic farming. The resulting wine tastes of spicy cherry and plum with a not so unpleasant funky earth note. Delicious to some – not so great to others, but that’s wine for you.
