1. Borsao White – The simple title of this wine doesn’t do it justice, as it’s a pretty complex little number for the money. 100% Macabeo, aka Viura that sees a bit of oak aging, it is all citrus with a light toasty, vanilla back note.
$8.99/bottle
2. I Stefanini Soave “Il Selese” – This was one of the most popular wines when we first opened, but it’s kind of settled down. I would venture to guess that trend will change after this Saturday……..this is still a steal and absolutely delicious. Composed almost entirely of Garganega, this is a rich white wine with nice peach, honeyed citrus and almond notes.
3. Perazetta Sangiovese – What else do you say about 90 point rated, $12.99 Sangiovese from Tuscany? Not much – stop by, try it, buy it, get a Marco’s pizza on the way home and call me in the morning.
4. Iché Les Heretiques – Here is the southern France countryside in a bottle. A blend of Carignan and Syrah, this is dark fruited and very “winey” with notes of black cherry, earth, herbes de Provence and peppery spice. Drink liberally with grilled meats.
