Every Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m., we invite you to our little South Asheville store to taste and learn about wine. We always have 4 or so wines open to share with you and we encourage you to sample them and ask questions about them. As we always say, the best way to learn about wine is to taste it! You have no excuse, come get your learn on at Table Wine on Saturdays. The lineup of wines this week will include the following:
1. Il Conti Pinot Grigio – It doesn’t get much easier than this easy drinking Pinot Grigio from the northeastern part of the country. Dry and mouthwatering, it displays pretty little notes of melon, apple, pear and citrus fruits.
2. Montinore Borealis – This deliciously juicy and off-dry white is composed of Riesling, Muller Thurgau, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer. It boasts an exotic nose of flowers and tropical fruits leading into a juicy palate of peach, melon and citrus.
3. Gaspare Vinci Nero d’Avola – We refer to this as a liter of Italian love! Bottled in a container that gets you an extra glass or two, this is fresh, fruit filled and easy to drink. Black cherry, pomegranate and spice notes dominate to create a wine great for drinking with or without food.
4. Quinta do Encontro Tinto – It’s the newest vintage of what we like to call the most dangerous red wine on the planet. It hails from southern Portugal and blends the native Baga grape with a little bit of Merlot. It tastes much more expensive with a wonderful core of dark berry fruit along with subtle notions of cocoa, spice and smoke.
