When the weather turns warmer, I reach for wines of France’s Loire Valley. Why? Because they’re light, they’re fresh, and they’re energizing. In addition, many Loire Valley wines are super affordable. Stop by and taste what I’m talking about. From bone-dry and mineralic Muscadet to earthy, freshy-fresh Cabernet Franc, we’ll have all bases covered. Taste, learn, save, and stock up this Saturday at Table Wine.
All of the featured tasting wines are 20% off on tasting day only. Just stop by — we’ve got plenty of free parking!
1. 2016 Domaine Du Coing de Saint-Fiacre Chardonnay “Aurore” – Fans of Chablis and Muscadet, we’ve found your new wine! From vineyards in the Atlantic-influenced, western part of the Loire Valley, this no-oak Chardonnay boasts aromas and flavors of pear, quince, citrus, and mineral. Crunchy, crisp, and less than $15, this is a great, warm-weather Chardonnay.
2. 2017 J Mourat Rose “Collection” – Dry rosé is an ideal beach wine, and this one comes from vineyards very near the Atlantic ocean. A blend of Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, and Negrette, all from biodynamic/organic vineyards, it offers up lovely notes of strawberry, cherry, herb, and mineral. Great by itself, it’s also great with summer vegetables and other fresh fare.
3. 2016 Chateau de Brézé Saumur Rouge “Clos Mazurique” – Loire Valley Cabernet Franc is great all year, but it’s at its best when it’s warm outside. This one, from one of the Loire’s top producers, grows in the limestone-rich, truffeau soils of the Loire Valley. Bright, radiant, perfumed and laced with cherry, mulberry, spice, earth, and floral notes, this one pretty much lights me up.
