1. 2012 Davis Family Cuvée Luke “Saralee’s Vineyard” – Guy Davis is one of the nicest guys in the business and this is one of his most unique wines. All of the grapes are sourced from the Sierra Foothills AVA. A blend of “48% Roussanne, 35% Marsanne and 17% Viognier, its light straw color is followed by a beautiful nose of rose petal oil, apricot, white peach, honeysuckle and orange marmalade. Medium to full-bodied, gorgeously pure and fruity, this dry, naked white shows no oak whatsoever. Enjoy it over the next several years.”
Robert Parker – 91 points
2. NV Marietta Old Vine Red Lot #62 – Year in and year out, this is one of the best red wine values produced in California. Owned and operated by the Bilbro Family since 1979, this is their modern California version of an Old World table wine. Composed of Zinfandel, Carignane, Petite Sirah, Syrah, and a few others, it “represents one of the finest value-priced wines in the United States. It exhibits excellent color, beautiful ripeness, lots of black and red fruits, earth and spice, and a savory, juicy, hedonistic mouthful of medium-bodied wine. With plenty of purity as well as character, this gorgeous blend should offer enjoyment over the next 2-3 years.” Robert Parker – 89 points
3. NV Marietta Christo Lot #2 – Chris Bilbro is the patriarch of Marietta Cellars, and he named the winery after his Great Aunt Marietta who taught him all about good cooking and eating, hard work, and honesty. As a child, she called him Christo and that was the inspiration for this wine. “a Rhône Ranger blend of 69% Syrah, 12% Petite Sirah, 18% Grenache and 1% Viognier. A killer wine, it offers peppery, cured meat, blackberry, black currant and Provençal herb characteristics in its full-bodied, earthy, deep, chewy, powerful personality. It delivers both flavor and value in incredible proportions. Drink now-2019+.” Robert Parker – 92 points
