1. Surprise Wine – We usually end with a surprise wine, but this week we’re going to start with one. If you love the crisp and mineralic whites of the Loire Valley, come early to get a taste of this one. We’ll only open one bottle.

2. 2017 Domaine Thevenet et Fils Macon Pierreclos (Burgundy, France) – Thevenet’s Macon is one of the cheapest ways to get real-deal, high quality White Burgundy in your belly. From vineyards averaging 45-50 years of age, this is 100% Chardonnay fermented in stainless steel and aged on the fine lees. Possessing lovely notes of apple, pear, lemon and spice, this zesty, no-oak Chardonnay is fantastic this vintage.

3. 2015 Vignerons de Buxy Pinot Noir-Gamay (Burgundy, France) – This deliciously fresh blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay is downright charming. Medium to light-bodied, low in tannin, and possessing pure flavors of ripe strawberry, raspberry, and subtle earthy accents, it is perfect for hot summer days. I’ll take two.

4. 2018 Domaine Duffour Cotes de Gascogne Rouge (Gascogne, France) – Oh my goodness, this stuff is great! We’ve long been fans of their crisp white, but their red is new to the store and all of us are in love with it. For less than $10, you get a ton of wine! A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 15% Tannat fermented in tank, it’s fresh, fruit forward, and way too easy to drink.

5. 2016 Vieux Manoir Bordeaux (Bordeaux, France) – Vintage 2016 was fantastic in Bordeaux and here’s your chance to experience the quality of the vintage without breaking the bank. A blend of 60% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc, this medium to full-bodied red is supple and charming. Look for ripe notes of plum and dark cherry along with more complex notions of earth, mineral and spice.
