Sauvignon Blanc can be a divisive grape. Some people think that all Sauvignon Blanc tastes like the kind that comes from New Zealand. Wrong! Some say it’s sweet and fruity. Wrong again!! Join us as we dispel myths and open your minds to the wonders of this noble grape. We’ll pour you a trio of fully dry, but stylistically different Sauvignon Blancs from various parts of the world. Guess what? None of them taste the same! Stop by, taste, learn, and save every Saturday at Table Wine.

All of the featured tasting wines are 20% off by the bottle on tasting day only.

1. 2017 Bayten “Beyond” Sauvignon Blanc (Constantia, South Africa) – This livewire bottling is crafted by Bayten (short for Buitenverwachting, which is Dutch for “beyond expectation”)– a Sauvignon specialist recognized for their elegant, mineral-tinged whites. Beyond offers tremendous bang for the buck, consistently earning “Best Buy”/“Best Value” accolades. Bursting with zesty flavors of passion fruit, melon, kiwi and lime backed by pronounced herbal notes and a mineral edge, it displays an elegance typical of cool climate Sauvignon Blanc.

2. 2017 Wither Hills Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough, New Zealand) – This is just classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc! With an exuberant nose of exotic citrus/tropical fruit notes along with that classic green herbal edge, it’s a great wine for the money. For fans of bigger brands like Kim Crawford, Brancott, and/or Nobilo, give this one a shot.

3. 2016 Philippe Girard Sancerre Cuvée Silex (Loire Valley, France) – Here’s an absolutely stellar version of Sancerre, France’s most prized Sauvignon Blanc-based wine. Grown in flinty soils along the shores of the Loire River, this one just rocks my world. Intense notes of gooseberry, lemon curd, mineral and green herbs, you won’t find a better Sancerre for the money.
