1. 2016 Arca Nova Vinho Verde (Vinho Verde, Portugal) – Here’s a new one to the store, an it might be the best value Vinho Verde I’ve ever tried. Whereas most Vinho Verdes are produced by larger firms who purchase their fruit, this one is an actual family-owned estate. With just a hint of effervescence along with crisp and crunch notes of apple, lemon, and pear, this is a great one to have on hand for warm and sunny days.

2. 2015 Franco Serra Barbera d’Alba Superiore (Piemonte, Italy) – Talk about a ton of wine for the money! From the fabulous 2015 Piemonte vintage, this is truly top-flight Barbera at a great price. Aged for 12 months in French oak (20% new) and an additional 3 months in bottle before release, this one exhibits medium to full bodied notes of ripe cherry, plum, and spice. Though soft and luscious on the palate, the natural acidity of Barbera keeps this one fresh and vibrant.

3. 2012 Luberri Rioja Crianza “Biga” (Rioja, Spain) – This has quickly become a staff and customer favorite — taste it and you’ll see why. Composed entirely of organically farmed Tempranillo from a single vineyard, the wine sees 12 months of aging in French and American oak. Classic savory notes of smoke and spice combine with dark fruit flavors to create a tremendous value Rioja. 93 points – JS
