1. NV Broadbent Vinho Verde Rosé (Vinho Verde, Portugal) – I keep tasting Vinho Verdes, looking for a better value than Broadbent’s……..I can’t find one. Their rosé is super fun, super refreshing, and a candidate for the best beach wine of all time. Low in alcohol, lightly spritzy, and laced with fresh strawberry, cherry, pomegranate, and orange zest.

2. 2016 Casa Ferreirinha Esteva (Douro Valley, Portugal) –For more than 250 years, Ferreira has been synonymous with high-quality Portuguese wine, and known around the world as “the Portuguese brand.” Esteva is their entry-level red, and it is combines Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca with Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional. Flowing with red fruits and savory spice, it’s an honest wine at a very reasonable price.

3. 2016 Casa Ferreirinha Vinha Grande (Douro Valley, Portugal) – This is a great introduction to very fine, Douro Valley red wine. A blend of 35% Touriga Franca, 30% Tinta Roriz, 25% Touriga Nacional, and 10% Tinta Barroca, the wine spends 18 months in French oak before bottling. The resulting wine is well-balanced, firm, complex, and quite fine. Look for notes of red fruits, plum, spice, resin, and cedar, and more.
