1. 2017 Jean Perrier et Fils Savoie Abymes “Cuvée Gastronomie” (Savoie, France) – If you’ve never tried a white from France’s Savoie region, you don’t know what you’re missing. This is a great introduction! Based entirely on the indigenous Jacquere grape, this one is light, super crisp, and aromatic. Look for notes of green apple, lime, honeysuckle, and mineral.
2. 2016 Loimer Gruner Veltliner “Lois” (Niederösterreich, Austria) – Gruner Veltliner is Austria’s most prized and famed grape, and I love it on hot and sunny days. Completely dry, un-oaked, and laced with notes of apple, citrus, and white pepper, this vivacious white will keep you cool, calm, and satisfied.
3. 2017 Guy Allion Touraine Sauvignon Blanc “Les Mazelles” (Loire Valley, France) – For hot, summer days, Sauvignon Blanc always does the trick. And this one comes from a great little grower in France’s Loire Valley. Possessing classic Loire aromas and flavors of citrus, pineapple, gooseberry, and green herbs, this tart and tangy white is best served with a good chill.
