1. 2015 Poppy Chardonnay (Santa Lucia Highlands, California) – Located in Monterey Wine Country, Poppy was founded by the Silva Family, who have been diligently tending to the land of the beautiful Salinas Valley for over 45 years. Their Chardonnay is beautifully balanced and rich. Great Britain’s Decanter called this “the best-value Chardonnay from the Santa Lucia Highlands.” Yep, I agree!
2. 2015 Bench Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast, California) – If you liked the Bench Cabernet Sauvignon, you’re gonna’ love their Pinot Noir! Sourced primarily from Sangiacomo Amaral Ranch Vineyard, it shows classic Sonoma Coast character. Medium bodied, silky, and flowing with ripe red fruits, complex spice, and elegant structure, it is a marvelous Pinot for the price.
3. 2015 Valravn Old Vine Zinfandel (Sonoma County, California) – It’s one our featured wines, and it’s a screaming-good value in Old Vine Zinfandel. Grapes come from old and ancient sites in the Dry Creek and Russian River Valleys, and the wine delivers crazy-good aromas and flavors of ripe and brambly berry fruit, spice, mocha and vanilla. It’s one of my new favorites and a wine I’ll be sipping often this fall and winter.
