Saturday, February 17th from 2-5pm – We continue our California Wine Weekend with a free wine tasting featuring some classic California Cabernets! We’re breaking out some of the good stuff for this one, and this promises to be Asheville’s best free wine tasting. Don’t miss out!
The Cabernet Sauvignons from the past few vintages in California have been epic! The 2012’s were sexy and opulent, the 13’s were classic, structured, and long-lived, the 14’s were charming and elegant, and the 15’s are exuberant and powerful. Oh yeah, the 16’s I tasted on my recent trip to Napa were beautiful — it’s going to be another phenomenal vintage for Napa Cab. Enough talking, let’s do some tasting. Stop by the store any time between 2-5pm this Saturday to sample some lovely Cabs from some ideal vintages. No RSVP required — just stop by — we’ve got plenty of free parking.
All of the featured tasting wines are being offered at 20% off by the bottle! To take advantage of the savings, all sales must be tendered by the end of business on Saturday, February 17th.
Can’t make it, but want to take advantage of the savings? Just use the contact form below to place your order, and I’ll contact you when it’s ready for pick-up.
1. 2015 Ancient Peaks Cabernet Sauvignon (Paso Robles, California) – The quality of Paso Robles’ Cabs has steadily increased over the past 10-15 years, often rivaling those produced in Napa and Sonoma. Here’s a fine example of why we’re seeing that trend. “Deep-pitched blackberry and cherry aromas are complemented by suggestions of woodsmoke, vanilla and dark chocolate. Hefty and broad in the mouth, offering jammy dark fruit flavors and a strong hint of mocha.” – Vinous Media – 88 points
2. 2012 Big Vine Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley, California) – It’s back and we bought it all! A past customer and staff favorite, the Big Vine Cabernet Sauvignon re-appeared at the beginning of the year. From the brilliant 2012 vintage, this stuff is showing lovely maturity, but it’s by no means over the hill. Elegant, beautifully detailed, and laced with notes of red and dark fruit, cedar, spice box, and dark chocolate, it’s a ton of wine for the $$!
3. 2015 Tamber Bey Cabernet Sauvignon “Deux Chevaux Vineyard” (Napa Valley, California) – I was looking for something like the Venge Cabernet Sauvignon, and I found it on my trip! This relatively young producer’s single-vineyard Cab literally took my breath away when I tasted it. From benchland vineyards in Yountville, this is rich, creamy, opulent, and hedonistic Cabernet. Perfect with steak, but it doesn’t require food. Wait until you try it!!
