1.2013 Stefano Massone Gavi “Masera” (Piemonte, Italy): There was a time when Gavi was all the rage in Italy. Even though the wine comes from Northwestern Italy, it was served in countless seafood restaurants along the coast. As it became more popular and demand rose, many producers began making inferior versions. The Cortese grape is the one responsible for Gavi, and when yields are too high, the wine can be completely bland and boring. Stefano Massone has gone to great lengths to repair the reputation of this wine, and his Masera bottling is one of the best Gavi values in the world. With bright and moderately rich, yet fresh notes of pear, apple, spice, and mineral, it’s a stunner at a great price.

2.2017 Ostatu Rioja Blanco (Rioja, Spain) – Year in and year out, Ostatu makes one of the best white wine values on the planet. Made from a blend of 60-70 year old Viura and Malvasia grown in chalky/clay soils, the wine is fermented in stainless steel and bottled without any further aging. Boasting notes of bright lemon along with some richer, lusher fruit nuances and chalky minerality, it’s kind of like Sauvignon Blanc with a little more weight and complexity.

3. 2017 Milou Chardonnay (Languedoc, France) – Chardonnay lovers, get ready to meet your new best friend! This gorgeous, no-oak version from Southern France is a ton of wine for the money. Boasting lush notes of white peach, pear, golden apple, baking spice and white flowers, you’re going to love it. And you’re going to love the price even more.
